This year was one of the best Backwoods camps that we have run, All Troops joined in & helped each other & it showed by the good attitude of the Scouts that attended. This year is the first time that we have awarded a bivi team an award, mainly because they stood out from the rest in taking on board constructive criticism, listening to the Leaders (especially Mark Hughes) on camp skills etc.. This Team were all from 1st Blackmoor & Whitehill Scouts – Jacob Neill, Ian McPains & Chris Puckett well done. We also had a Scout of the camp & he is a plucky little lad from 1st Bordon Scouts, Aaron Morris (Grailey?)Well done, another Pirate knecker well earnt. We will be back at Stoney Brow for next year’s Backwoods camp as there is plenty of foliage etc for us to use.
This year only 70 Scouts attended with 25 Leaders, some part time but most full time, this makes a difference as Leaders can have a break when required. The last 3 camps have there have been over 100 + Scouts attending. Thanks to all the Leaders that attended especially Tom Bagley from 1st Headley with his 2 assistants & his GSL who is willing to get her hands dirty & “muck in” (cannot remember her name)
Larry, Paul, Dom & Mark ran Level 2 with a lot of success, thanks goes to them for this & I hope they will be back next year.
I may have organised the camp , set up etc but Mark Hughes ran level 1extreemly well as I was stuck in the Grub Tub, thanks Mark for “being there” & just getting on with the job in hand.
Yours in the largest youth movement in the world “Scouting”
